URMSTON Tennis Club is celebrating the start of the tennis season by once again running its ‘Welcome Wednesday’ sessions.

The first session takes place on Wednesday, April 19 where anyone interested in tennis, whatever their ability, can come and give tennis a try and benefit from coaching, match play, advice and see what the club has to offer.

‘Welcome Wednesday’ is a 90 minute session from 6-7.30pm which will give juniors, families and adults the chance to sample a FREE half hour coaching session run by a qualified LTA coach including: * Family and junior session which introduces junior match set up and tips for children and parents.

* Rusty Rackets session for new or returning tennis players/members.

* Social tennis and matchplay doubles.

The club has three all-weather courts and three Italian clay courts with five grass courts being prepared for the summer season, so there is plenty of space for everyone to join in, whatever their level.

Club chairman, Chris Ryan, said: “This is a great way to have a go at or get back into tennis and all you need is a pair of trainers and a racket. We have a number of men's, ladies' and junior teams who all play in local leagues and we welcome anyone who would be keen to join our friendly tennis community here. "We want to make Wednesdays a focus for all our members and potential members to join in with FREE coaching to help enable all concerned to then feed into the most appropriate coaching session, social tennis session or team."

If you or your child are interested in joining the club or attending sessions, please contact Chris Ryan on 07885 412801 or email chris.ryan90@ntlworld.com
