BOWDON Lawn Tennis Club is preparing to bring the Team GB Davis Cup spirit to the area with the 'Davis Cup Open Day' on March 25, 12 noon to 6pm

The event is the culmination of months of planning with two former Great Britain players (Josh Goodall and Danny Sapsford) coming down to Bowdon LTC to take coaching clinics, play with locals and also take part in a special exhibition match against the Bowdon LTC coaches.

There will also be a speed gun challenge and giant rackets games. There will be grass court tennis play for anyone keen to have a try and a prize raffle draw to raise funds for the club.

The event starts at 12 noon with various coaching clinics taking place for different ages throughout the afternoon culminating with a special exhibition match at 4pm.

Many prizes will be given out and organisers are anticipating around 300 players taking part in this special event. Other activities on the day include a bouncy castle, beat the coach game, BBQ food, drinks and ice cream.

Head of tennis, Phil Spencer, said “The Davis Cup Open Day will bring together juniors and adults from the community to celebrate the start of the Summer season and what better way to start than with two GB Davis cup players coming to Bowdon. We hope that we can inspire the next generation to try Tennis and hopefully one day we will have a Wimbledon champion come from through from the area.”
