BECKY Shepherd turned in another stellar display as in-form Urmston Hockey Club ladies’ seconds kept their Greater Manchester League Division Three promotion hopes alive with a 3-0 win against Stockport Bramhall ladies’ thirds.

A brace from Moe Rothwell and a goal from starlet Faye Wilson sealed the win with Gemma Booth keeping an impressive clean sheet in goal.

The men’s seconds condemned Division Five North South leaders Liverpool John Moores University firsts to only their second defeat with an emphatic 8-2 win.

Andy Power helped himself to a hat-trick while Nick Wilson and Matt Downes also notched braces with Lewis Monk rounding off the score.

Luke Durkan was at the heart of the Greens' play at both ends of the pitch and the win keeps the team in pole position for a third-placed finish.

The toils of the season began to show for the ladies’ firsts with the team crippled by injuries as they fell 3-2 to Oldham Ladies’ firsts in Division Two South West.

The team could not make their dominance pay as they saw goal-line clearances, one-on-one goalkeeping heroics and breakaway counter-attacks help Oldham into a 3-0 lead.

The Greens fought back bravely as Stacey Bell and Gemma Booth netted but the rally came too late as Oldham left with the points.

Urmston’s under-11s girls were also in action as they won two, drew two and lost one to move ninth in their league.

The youngsters ran out 4-0 winners against Oldham and 1-0 against Timperley but fell 2-0 to Stockport and shared the spoils in goalless draws with Brooklands Poynton and Bolton.
