AFTER a blank weekend, Trafford MV face another long trip to Cumbria to Hawcoat Park in Barrow in Furness on Saturday.

Following a morale-boosting win at Fleetwood last time out in North Lancs/Cumbria Division, Trafford will be looking to take a strong team with the likely return of influential back-row Danny Burke following injury.

And they will be aiming to pick up something following a recent drop in form from the Cumbrian side who have lost two and drawn one of their last three fixtures.

It is important for MV to stay ahead of the current relegation trio with a crunch game against their key relegation rivals Upper Eden due on March 11.

That game will be accompanied at the club by a pre-match chairman's lunch for rugby officials, club sponsors and guests.

Meanwhile, MV are busy making preparations for the 2017 cricket season.

The senior players are netting at Emirates Old Trafford while the juniors are getting their early practice at Manor High School.

Recruitment for both sections is going well with new players arriving and anyone interested in getting involved should contact Wilf Dooley at wilfdooley@virginmedia.com or by calling 01942 884542.

The club have a Natwest CricketForce day planned for April 1 and if any Trafford businesses are interested in sponsoring a local sports club they should contact Wilf.

There is plenty of action at Trafford MV as the Gaelic football season has just begun for MV's resident guests St Brendans GAA team.

The team is one of the prominent teams in the north of England and invite interested parties to look them up and maybe give the game a try or visit MV's MacPherson Park to watch a game.
