SALE Cricket Club's outstanding former Australian under-19 international Brooke Guest has committed his future to England after signing his first professional contract with Lancashire.

Manchester-born Guest emigrated to Australia aged six, but returned to his home-town club Sale this year.

He impressed in his first English summer, scoring 1,097 runs for Sale in all competitions, including three centuries – form that saw him feature regularly for the Lancashire Second XI.

Guest averaged nearly 40 in three-day Championship cricket and was a member of the side that won the Second XI One-Day Trophy against Somerset at Emirates Old Trafford in August.

Now he is looking forward to combining his Lancashire commitments with a second season of club cricket with Sale.

Guest said: "I'm very happy to be coming back to Sale, it's a great club with a lot of great people who made me feel so welcome last year and hopefully we can be a very competitive side again this year.”

Upon signing his contract with Lancashire, he added: “I’m really excited to get this opportunity with Lancashire.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing for the Second XI in the summer and I’m looking forward to continuing my development with the club next year.

“Hopefully I can keep contributing in the Second XI and push for a place in the first team.”
