MARK Derbyshire came off the bench to notch his second hat-trick in the space of four days and pave the way for a sensational 6-0 victory for Trafford at Ossett Albion.

The physical Ossett side edged the opening minutes with striker Nathan Joynes heading over in the first minute and James Eyles glancing a header wide at the near post.

Trafford were struggling to get into their stride and home left back Darren Thornton was perhaps fortunate to escape with a yellow card for a shocking challenge on Kingsley Williams.

However, the game turned in the 24th minute with an inspired substitution by Trafford manager Tom Baker, who introduced giant striker Derbyshire in place of Filose Irakoze.

And within four minutes the move paid dividends when Derbyshire fed Lee Neville whose pinpoint cross was volleyed home from close range by Aaron Burns.

Fraser Horsfall then headed a Liam Brownhill corner just over as Trafford dominated and Derbyshire just failed to connect with a low cross by Ally Brown.

Two minutes before the interval Burns struck again with his 20th goal of the season, Derbyshire finding Williams on the left and the tricky midfielder flighting a great cross that Burns headed home from six yards.

And in the dying seconds of the first half Derbyshire should have made it three when Burns released him down the middle but he shot inches wide of the upright with goalkeeper Jordan Bradshaw stranded.

Ossett threatened briefly at the start of the second period but Derbyshire killed off any hopes they had of a comeback in the 55th minute when he led a quick counter-attack down the right and rammed the ball home from 10 yards.

In the 63rd minute Andy Langford made it 4-0 when he struck a sweet volley home at the back post after Bradshaw had completely misjudged a Brownhill corner, and Derbyshire struck again seven minutes later when he rose superbly to power a header into the roof of the net following a great cross by Neville.

The scoring was completed in the 76th minute with a magnificent sweeping move from one end of the pitch to the other, starting with right-back Brownhill playing the ball neatly out of defence and finishing with left-back Neville firing in a drive that crashed against the bar allowing Derbyshire to ram the ball home from 10 yards to complete an incredible hat-trick.

The Trafford management team of Baker and Chris Shuker were delighted with a performance and result that takes them to within three points of the play-off positions and they will be hoping to build on this on Saturday when they travel to Bamber Bridge.
