MARTYN Hamer is the new head professional at Davyhulme Park Golf Club.

Hamer has packed plenty of success and variety of work into his golfing career and is delighted to be given the chance to show his skills in his new role.

He said: “I am very proud and excited to join the team here and be a part of this wonderful club.

“I started to play golf at the age of 10 at North Manchester GC after being bitten by the golfing bug and my handicap came tumbling down through the years.

"I had a handicap of +2 by the age of 17, winning the Lancashire Boys' championship and representing England as an amateur.

"I soon realised that a career in golf is what I wanted to do and completed my PGA examinations by the age of 21 to become the assistant professional at Ellesmere GC.

“I continued to play and had numerous course records, winning local competitions and progressing to the European Tour School in the process.

"In 2010 I was given the opportunity to join the Peter Cowen Golf Academy situated in the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai and stayed there for three years, growing the game of golf amongst children in the region alongside adult coaching in the evenings.

“For the past 18 months I worked at Yas Links in the capacity of Golf Operations Manager at the 46th best course in the world which broadened my skills, particularly in the area of customer service to meet the expectations of members and guests on a daily basis.

“My personal aim is to provide a high-class service at Davyhulme and to be extremely dynamic and flexible to meet the requirements of members and guests in all areas.

“I have amassed a wealth of knowledge in all departments and hope to implement some of my past experience and improve the club step-by-step with the help of the directors and management.”
