ALTRINCHAM Grammar School for Girls Year 12 student Katie Helsby won the GHS National Schools Championship 10-mile Time Trial at Dunnington, Warwickshire.
This is a Cycling Time Trials (CTT) annual event and is named ‘GHS’ after a key patron of the CTT who was influential in expanding the time trials.
Katie’s amazing winning time of 24mins 33secs at an incredible average speed of 24.44mph secured her the title of GHS Manchester and District Schoolgirl 10-mile Time Trial champion.
Katie currently trains and races at Manchester Velodrome representing Sportcity Velo.
She also races for a road team, Racing Chance Foundation, and has been competing nationally for the past five years on both track and road circuits and has been invited to attend numerous British Cycling training days.
