URMSTON Tennis Club is hosting its first ever men’s grass court open doubles tournament to celebrate a golden summer of tennis as the grass court season comes to an end.

The tournament will run on the weekend of September 17 and 18, with Saturday 17th being used as a qualifying day for those wishing to take part and the main tournament beginning at 10.30am on the Sunday morning, culminating with the final followed by barbecue and drinks in the late afternoon.

Invitations are extended to all tennis players in the Trafford and South Manchester area, and entry costs £10 per pair which covers match fee, balls and barbecue on the Sunday.

Chris Ryan, Urmston Tennis Club chairman, said: “This is the first time we have organised this, and we really want to take advantage of our fantastic grass courts and the huge amount of interest in tennis following a successful Wimbledon and Olympics for Andy Murray and Team GB. "Anyone who plays tennis is very welcome to join for what should be a fun day, and the first of what we hope will be an annual event.”
