A DISAPPOINTING weekend for Brooklands started with a loss for the first XI at Cheshire County League Division Two strugglers Christleton.

The hosts batted first and Joshua Joseph (dropped on five) scored 77 in Christleton's total of 192 in 48.3 overs.

AJ Hart took 5-47, with three of his wickets being catches by fellow opening bowler Caleb Jones, who himself took 2-31 in 14 overs.

Jones ended up taking two other catches (including a caught and bowled).

Brooklands had difficulty in picking up the slingy Zaighum Abbas (5-21, including three who fell to him first ball) with Joseph taking 3-45.

Dan Duke (38) and Hart (30) were the two batsmen who got Brooklands the nearest to their target, however they were bowled out for 142 to lose by 50 runs.

The second XI suffered a frustrating 13-run loss at home to Davenham.

Davenham were inserted and bowled out for 178 in 48.2 overs.

This was a recovery as Davenham were 120-4 after 20 overs with James Loveridge (79) scoring at a phenomenal rate.

Tom Mitchell (4-60) and Alan Millington (3-16) were the pick of the bowlers for the hosts.

The batting subsided from an excellent position of 107-3 off 24 overs to 165 all out in 43.3 overs with starts thrown away. Mark Bloomfield (39) and Ethan Brooks (33) were the two main batsmen to get going.

The third XI went to the picturesque Over Peover second XI.

Bowling first, they conceded 240-3 in 43 overs with Bale retiring on 104 not out. Cameron Buchan (2-92) was the pick of the bowlers.

The third XI got to 179-7 in the 47 overs they had to respond, with mainstays Ross Willard (63) and Paul Vesey (29no) the main runs scorers.

The fourth XI had no game but host Bowdon Vale this Sunday.

The first XI host Alvanley with the second XI travelling to Warrington. The third XI host Wistaston.
