TRAFFORD produced some scintillating attacking football to demolish newly-promoted North West Counties outfit Prestwich Heys 7-0 on Tuesday night.

Chris McDonagh and Mitchell Bryant missed simple chances in the first few minutes but the former made amends by drilling the ball into the bottom corner to put the visitors ahead in the fifth minute.

Mark Derbyshire doubled the lead four minutes later with a devastating run and finish and McDonagh struck a 30-yard thunderbolt into the top corner to make it 3-0 with just a quarter of an hour gone.

Grant Spencer and McDonagh both hit the woodwork as Trafford threatened to run riot and in the 32nd minute Derbyshire struck again when he blasted another unstoppable drive into the top corner from 25 yards.

Home goalkeeper Rob Sadler denied McDonagh with a fine save in the 36th minute but was powerless to prevent the same player from completing a superb hat-trick two minutes before the interval when he cracked a low drive inside the far post from the right.

The second half was something of an anti-climax with numerous substitutions being made and on the hour mark skipper Nicky Platt broke forward and unleashed a fine shot past Sadler from 25 yards to make it six.

Platt then became the provider in the 81st minute when his corner from the left was met with a sweet header from Lee Neville to complete the rout.

Tuesday's victory came after a 1-1 home draw with Chorley on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, the deadlock was broken when Chorley striker Sefton Gonzales brushed aside Trafford captain Josh Granite and ghosted past the keeper to slot home into the empty goal.

Shortly afterwards it should have been two when the visitors were awarded a penalty, Dale Whitham striking the spot-kick against the bar.

The equaliser came just after the hour mark when substitute McDonagh coolly converted his penalty following a reckless tackle by Moore.

In the 84th minute and with Chorley pushing forward for the winner, they were awarded another spot-kick but man of the match Luke Pilling produced another fine save to thwart Gonzales.

Trafford are in action once again on Tuesday night when they entertain FC United of Manchester at Shawe View, kick off 7.45pm.
