HAZEL Grove Golf Club was blessed with superb weather as they staged the annual contest for the Leo Feeney Trophy.

Their magnificent Alister Mackenzie course provided its usual excellent challenge for another top field of professionals and amateurs.

Birchwood Golf Club’s former European Tour star Phil Archer showed his class with a great double win as he topped the individual pro competition with 39 points, one more than Steve Parry (Hart Common) and Craig Corrigan (Chilli Dip).

Archer had a fine partner in Warrington’s Anton Johnson as they led in the pro-am section with 44 points.

This left them one clear of Ashton-on-Mersey’s Kris Andrews and Paul Brough who won the Leo Feeney Trophy as the best pair from the same club after they had won a card play-off (cpo) from Bramall Park’s Liam Burgess and his Tytherington partner Chris Johnson.

Also in the pro-am prizes after a cpo on 42 points were Craig Corrigan and Alan Hamblett (Haigh Hall) and Bramall Park’s Craig Daggitt and Ken Thompson.

Event sponsor Steve Hamer (North Manchester) partnered home star Mike Jones to a winning 43 points in the am-am section that left them one clear of Mike Hewitt and Steve Moores (Stamford) and Steve Finan and Danny Fox (also Stamford).
