FOR the first time in its history, Altrincham and District Athletic Club have won a seven-club match in the UK Youth Development League Lower Age Group (Division Four North West).
The team of 25 athletes, aged between 11 and 15, won the match at Trafford Athletic Club by a large margin (177 points) and are now top of the North West Four league table after two matches.
They are looking well placed to challenge for promotion – again for the first time in the club’s history.
The athletes produced an amazing 54 personal best performances, and team manager Mark Simpson said: “This is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the young athletes, the parents who ferry them around to matches and training and to the coaches who volunteer their services to train them.”
