SALE youngster Ben Whitfield is hoping to be jumping for joy at the Barclaycard Arena this weekend.

The 11-year-old is part of the North West team heading to the Trampoline and Tumbling Regional Finals in the Midlands.

And he is targeting a top-eight spot to qualify for the national finals in July.

Ben has been trampolining for two years and trains twice a week at Altrincham Leisure Centre and once a week at George H Carnell Leisure Centre in Urmston.

And dad Darren, of Woodheys Drive, says Ben loves the sport.

He told SAM: "He has showed a natural talent for the sport and last November his coach entered him into competition.

"He helped his school's boys trampolining team (Ashton on Mersey School) reach the National School Trampolining Finals and they came fourth.

"Meanwhile, at club level, Ben came first at the North West team qualifying competition in March to qualify to represent the North West region in Birmingham.

"His individual goal is now to achieve a top-eight place to go through to the national finals in July."
