BROADHEATH Central Junior Football Club's under-13s are celebrating after winning the Cheshire County Cup.

The u13 Avalanche team beat Wilmslow Town u13 Cougars 2-1 at Barnton FC to lift the cup.

It was a good game watched by a decent crowd with both teams adjusting well to the occasion and playing attractive football from kick off.

Wilmslow Town struck early when Broadheath failed to clear their penalty box, resulting in a cross being headed home past the Central keeper.

But Broadheath reacted well and bounced back playing some excellent passing football.

A corner just after 25 minutes saw forward Will Donnan volley the ball into the Wilmslow Town goal from 16 yards to level the scores.

Both teams took a well-deserved half-time break and came out firing in the second half.

Broadheath went close to taking the lead when striker Derel Clarke beautifully volleyed against the Wilmslow bar.

It was a sign of things to come for Central as, with 10 minutes remaining, the ball was pulled back from the Wilmslow dead-ball line and met by Broadheath captain William Johnson who hit a low 18-yard shot home.

With the clock running down both teams continued to play tidy football but Broadheath’s resilient defence stood firm to secure a famous victory for the club.

Both teams were a credit to the Cheshire FA who organised the final and the Timperley and District League, which both clubs represent.
