TRAFFORD manager Tom Baker hopes his team can overcome any rustiness when they face Ossett Town this weekend, writes Tom Molloy.

The Shawe View side haven’t had a game for three weeks, due to a series of postponements, but Baker hopes they can take motivation from their away defeat to Ossett earlier in the season – a game he thinks Trafford should have won.

He told SUM: “No disrespect to Ossett, they played well on the day but we missed a penalty, we had two goals disallowed and their keeper was absolutely fantastic that day.

“In the end, we fell asleep and got done to a good goal. But fair play to Ossett, they got the three points and hopefully we can try and reverse that this time.”

Baker will also be able to call on two new players on Saturday.

Last week he announced the loan signing of 18-year-old midfielder Keenan Quansah from Accrington Stanley.

He’s now also added left-back Lee Neville to the squad, who has signed from Hyde, and Baker is happy to have both players on board.

He said: “We signed Lee last week, he would have been eligible for last Saturday. He’s a good signing, he’s someone that I spoke to in the summer, when I was first appointed but he ended up going to Hyde. He’s someone that I’m glad to get in.

“[With Keenan] it’s a bit difficult because we’ve not had a game since we signed him. We’ve had two cancellations but he’s been good in training, he’s settled in with the l lads and I’m looking forward to seeing him on a game day and I’m sure he’s looking forward to playing himself. “

However, the Trafford boss says that he’s under no illusions though this weekend’s game will be a tough one, despite Ossett finding themselves in the bottom three.

He added: “Ossett are at the bottom end of the table but it counts for nothing really because anyone can beat anyone in this league.

“It’s very open and some of the results can be a surprise. I’m certainly not reading into the table, it’s just another game against another team, who are going to be tough and are going to battle for the three points like every team does in this league.”
