TRAFFORD boss Tom Baker hopes the arrival of two new faces will inject new life into his side in the second half of the campaign.

Baker has drafted in teenage Accrington Stanley star Keenan Quansah on loan and revealed to SUM he is close to sealing a deal for a left-back from the division above ahead of this weekend's trip to Glossop North End.

And he says the pair will not only strengthen the Shawe View squad but also provide competition for those already at the club.

Baker told SUM: "We are delighted to get Keenan in on loan.

"He is a centre-back than can also play in central midfield and that's probably where he will play for us.

"It's an area we need strengthening. We need some legs in there and athleticism and Keenan brings that.

"He is 18 but has been through the ranks at a league club.

"We are also close to getting a left-back in from the league above.

"It is not easy because all clubs are after the same good players but that's another area which will be stronger.

"It freshens things up and also lets the other players know there is competition for places.

"Squad-wise we are okay but it is not where I want it to be and that shows in our league position.

"We want to be successful and building a strong squad will help us."

Trafford's home clash with Clitheroe fell victim to the wet weather last weekend meaning they have had to wait to get a disappointing 1-1 home draw with Droylsden the previous weekend out of their system.

Baker's men travel to Glossop on Saturday hoping to get back to winning ways.

But the boss accepts it will not be easy against a home side riding high in third place in Evo-Stik First Division North.

He added: "They have had a good season on the whole after promotion last year and reaching the FA Vase final at Wembley.

"They have a stable squad with some good players but we go there looking for three points.

"They may be higher in the table but I don't think there is much between the two teams.

"Hopefully we can get the right result because we were all disappointed with the performance against Droylsden when we didn't deserve to win."
