TRAFFORD boss Tom Baker wants his side to take their cup form into the league when they travel to Kendal Town on Saturday.

The Shawe View men's last outing saw them beat Hyde United 5-4 on penalties in the Premier Cup and that victory was preceded by an impressive 2-0 home League Cup triumph against Evo-Stik First Division North leaders Northwich Victoria.

But before last weekend's match at Harrogate Railway Athletic was postponed, Trafford had lost three successive league clashes.

And Baker wants to see the cup form on show in Cumbria this weekend.

He told SUM: "The two cup wins boosted us there's no doubt about that.

"But we need to show the same form in the league.

"The last three matches in the league have been disappointing. We should have beaten Ossett Albion last time out when we were poor.

"But we showed in the cup against Northwich – which was a fantastic display – what we can do.

"To be honest, I would be more worried if we were getting battered in games but we aren't.

"We have caused our own problems much of the time and we know we need to do better at Kendal.

"The lads are fresh after last week's postponement but we know we have to get back to winning ways.

"Last week was our first match called off and we have played a lot more games than a lot of the teams around us."

Resources have been stretched for Baker who has named himself in reserve with the squad down to something like 13 fit players in recent weeks.

But he is avoiding excuses ahead of what he sees as a must-win game this weekend with tougher tests to come over Christmas.

"We have to play the top two in Northwich and Warrington in three days over Christmas," Baker added.

"They will be big asks for us because they are both flying at present so we want to go into those matches off the back of a win and confident.

"The lads know we need to get on a winning run if we can and get results away from home at places like Kendal."
