SOME OF the UK’s most promising Muay Thai stars took to the ring at the ‘Road to The Main Event’ on November 21.

And Leyton Collymore and Dakota Ditcheva, of Northern Spirit Sale, were victorious.

Tanko’s thrilling Muay Thai showcase saw a series of explosive and action packed fights including an international feature fight victory for Dakota Ditcheva, and a ISKA English Title win for Leyton Collymore.

Leyton Collymore of Northern Spirit, Sale secured ISKA English Title victory in the anticipated rematch against Tyler Liptrott of Team OO, Bolton.

The South Manchester based champion won the 67KG bout by way of unanimous decision after five rounds of flying knees and high kick combinations.

Dakota Ditcheva also of Northern Spirit, Sale secured a sixth successive win against last minute French opponent Myriame Djedidi.

Ditcheva landed a series of high kicks in a closely fought technical battle. The bout, which saw out all five two minute rounds cements Ditcheva’s status as an exciting up-and-coming star after defeating a greatly experienced opponent, 10 years her senior with 26 professional fights under her belt.

The event, held at The Village Hotel, Ashton-Under-Lyne is the prequel to the the UK’s annual premier Muay Thai showcase, The Main Event, which takes place on May 14 at the Bolton USN Arena.

The Tanko Main Event co-promoter, Phil Shedden, commented: “Last nights’ sell out event was a spectacular showcase from all involved, with all 38 fighters exhibiting excellent technical Muay Thai skills. The entertaining fighting on display shows the talent and ability from all involved, with most bouts lasting the full five rounds and all matches were packed with explosive excitement from start to finish.

“We’re now looking forward to The Main Event in May, which we expect to be the most popular Muay Thai event to date, with interest and following of the sport reaching record numbers, and some of the world’s most exciting Muay Thai talent coming from our door step in Manchester and the North West.”
