SWIM Trafford celebrated the end of a highly successful season by attending the 16th annual Trafford Sports Awards.

Expectations were high with swimmers and coaches having reached the shortlisted stage in five of the seven categories of award.

Holly Rowlinson was the first to go up, nominated as Sports Achiever of the Year for her inclusion in a squad of 40 that competed in Italy earlier in the year.

At that meet, Holly won two gold and one silver medal, following that with a gold at the British National finals in July.

Unfortunately, Holly was pipped for the award by snowboarder Bradie Zimmer Collins.

Not to be deterred, the Swim Trafford supporters cheered on head coach James Stannard who was nominated as Coach of the Year.

Craig McNeill was up for the Volunteer of the Year title while Win Woodcock was nominated for the Unsung Hero in Sport gong.

Rowlinson also joined seven other athletes who were inducted on to the Trafford 'Roll of Honour' Board for achieving the highest accolade of representing their country in their chosen sport.

Judith Lawson, chairman of Swim Trafford was honoured to receive the award on behalf of all the swimmers, coaching staff, parents and volunteered who contributed to the success of the team during 2014/15.

She said: “The award is a fantastic achievement and recognises the effort, commitment and dedication that the swimmers put into their training on a daily basis.”

Swim Trafford performance squad is part of the Trafford Swim21 Network and is a brand within the Trafford Leisure CIC, working closely with the successful Swim Well scheme and the swimming development clubs located in the Borough.
