A BUMPER crowd of more than 500 fans attended Non League Day at Shawe View on Saturday to watch Trafford entertain Radcliffe Borough.

Officials from the club believe it was a resounding success and they hope supporters enjoyed the 2-0 victory for Tom Baker's side so much that they will come back.

Match secretary Dave Murray said: "We normally get between 150 and 250 down at the ground so to get more than 500 was great.

"We had Meadowside football team playing during half-time and we have good links with them and would like to get them to come regularly to the club.

"Our support is growing solidly as we are seeing people with scarves that who would not have been coming to games a while ago.

"The match was a great advert for non-league football and we are hoping that some of the kids who got in for free will want to come back.

"It was a similar situation a few years ago when a young boy came with his dad and then three years later his dad Robin Thomason was named our vice-chairman."

Murray believes the vocal support helped to boost the home side.

"Tom has said it was great performance and he thought it was good to have people backing them throughout the game."
