MANCHESTER Storm are back and we are delighted to announce that joining us behind the microphone will once again be “Voice of the puck”, Jon Hammond.

The popular announcer is a famous part of Storm folklore having taken the hot seat as the club’s match night announcer for the first ever game in the ‘Nynex’ Arena back in 1995.

Hammond spent seven years with the club during which he became an iconic figure, notorious for making match night’s fun, entertaining and welcoming.

General Manager, Neil Russell said: “Jon created a unique and special atmosphere at the old arena and this is something that we aspire to achieve in our new home. "We want our match night experience and the atmosphere in the rink to be second to none and we believe Jon Hammond is the man to drive that. Since moving to Manchester and speaking to people about the Storm, one of the first things they recall is Jon and his bright yellow jacket.

"The warmth and affection people hold for him is obvious and I am excited to have such a passionate and talented individual leading on our match night presentation.”

Whether or not the iconic yellow jacket will make a return on opening night against Nottingham Panthers on August 29 remains to be seen.
