ALTRINCHAM are still looking for their first goal and first points of the 2015-16 season after their third successive defeat losing 2-0 to Woking.

They started brightly enough, passing the ball better than they had in their midweek defeat at Guiseley.

And chances came as an eighth minute shot from George Bowerman, making his first start for Alty, had to be touched wide by Cole and then a Lawrie 25-yarder had also to be saved by Woking's keeper.

But Woking then settled, with Sole going just wide with a shot from the edge of the box. Bowerman continued to be Alty's liveliest player and Rankine should have done better when the left-winger fed him inside the box.

Next, an interception by Bowerman set him running at goal but his shot went narrowly wide.

Woking made Alty pay for these missed chances in the 32nd minute.

A shot from their new loan signing, Holman, was beaten out by Coburn, only for team-mate Sole to score from the loose ball.

Woking should have doubled their lead after 52 minutes when Arthur cruised up the left and gave Holman a chance, which he put badly wide.

However, the game was settled after 75 minutes when Holman was allowed to gather the ball, turn and shoot, low, past Coburn to make it 2-0.

Three minutes later, Alty almost got back in the contest when Reeves fed Richman and his shot came out, off the inside of the post.

Alty won several late corners but could not convert them into clear chances. For their part Woking continued to be a danger on the counter-attack, particularly through the speedy substitute Andrade.

So, despite an improved performance, Altrincham dropped to bottom of the National League as they also lost 1-0 to Guiseley and a defeat by the same scoreline to Forest Green Rovers on the opening day of the season.
