TRAFFORD MV first team came second once more this weekend despite the efforts of skipper Paddy Harrison who got a good half century against Holmes Chapel.

MV face an uphill battle for the second half of the season as they fight to get out of the relegation zone.

The second team faired better in their game against Mossley first team with a good all round team performance.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bat in glorious conditions at MacPherson Park.

MV bowled and fielded well with Mo Gul taking three wickets as Mossley were bowled out for 116.

In reply MV were confident but with the loss of a couple of early wickets the match became a little nervy.

South African Mike Kendrick was the mainstay of the MV battling holding his end up for a steady 26.

MV were chasing the total but a slow run rate was causing concern.

It was Kamran in the lower order who swung things MV's way with three good sixes and with balls running out it was last man Zaib who notched a valuable 18 quick runs to win the game for MV.

This was a brilliant effort from MV's second team who had to rally round and battle hard for a deserved win in front of a large home crowd.

All MV's three senior men's teams plus the women's XI are away from home this coming weekend as they travel to Tranmere Victoria, Capenhurst, Bramhall and Hawarden Park – it is disappointing to have no game for the home supporters.
