BROOKLAND'S first team passed a stern test at the weekend in achieving a 14-point draw at top of the table Bollington.

Openers Robert Wood (81) and Jack Bagshaw (54 – taking his league tally to 258) got the visitors off to a good start batting first.

Emmanuel Parmakellis added another 57 and Brooklands ended up 232-7 off 48 overs.

Aldo Palazzo's 4-59 was the pick of the hosts' bowling.

With Saturday's weather the hosts had 42 overs to chase this down and didn't get too close as Brooklands looked like the side to win. Bollington closed 206-9, Richard Hough holding the innings together with 63 runs from the opener's berth. Caleb Jones (3-41) was the leading wicket taker.

Brooklands are currently 6th place but it is very tight in the middle order; they host fourth-placed Widnes at the weekend with just two points separating the sides and 25 to play for.

The second XI were indebted to a fine 67* from Paul Garnett to win the derby against Sale.

Elsewhere, the third XI beat Upton by 51 runs.

The fourth XI completed the weekend and remain at the top of their table after a tight 10-run win against Bramhall.
