STRETFORD again failed to open their account with a poor batting display losing by 10 wickets on a damp track at Denton West.

Early wickets fell as the prolific Steve Oddy made inroads into the Stretford batting, while at the other end ex-Lancashire and Durham pace man Scott Kirwin chipped in with two wickets.

Only Chris Sharp (10), Umer Shah (17) and Wasim Zafar (13) made double figures in a low total of 86.

Surprisingly Stretford opened with Munir Khan and Shah, but with such a small total to chase Denton West were never under any pressure and won by 10 wickets.

Elsewhere, at Lesley road the second team lost by 50 runs chasing 168.

They did well to recover from a perilous situation at 3-3 to make 119.

In the Denton West innings, Ben Riddell took three wickets to clean up the tail and 16-year-old Zidane Zafar again was the pick of the bowlers taking four wickets in a long spell of off-spin.

Meanwhile, Stretford's Under-11's and u13s maintained their winning start to the season defeating Brooklands and Prestwich.

Stretford first team will be looking to bounce back from their defeat when they entertain Dukinfield first team.
