YOUNG spinner Raj Singh's 4-43 were not enough to help Brooklands first team to victory as they drew with bottom side Alvanley.

Batting first, Brooklands got up to 230-6 with runs from most of the batsmen.

The leading runscorers were Jack Bagshaw (71) and Emmanuel Parmakellis (56).

Alvanley were indebted to 64* from Simon Gee in their chase.

The wickets were shared among the Brooklands bowlers but 16-year-old Singh (4-43) was the pick of the bowlers.

The draw enabled Brooklands to consolidate fifth spot in the league.

The first team have three games this week and hope to take the bragging rights against Division One high-flyers Sale in the Joseph Holt Brewery T20 on Thursday (6:15pm start).

They then host Stockport in the league on Saturday (1pm start) followed by a trip to Wallasey in the Cheshire Cup on Sunday.

Elsewhere, the second team fell nine runs short in a topsy-turvy tie with Middlewich.

Middlewich were 87-1 at drinks and a score above 200 looked on the cards but good bowling from Alex Robinson and Rob Leach (both 2-51) kept Brooklands in it and Middlewich to 175.

The hosts looked set to chase throughout as most batsmen got in but only Paul Garnett (41) pushed past 25 as they fell failed to reach the target.

Meanwhile the third team moved up to third with a cracking win at home to Neston.

Ross Willard’s 80 was key but the hosts collapsed from 152-4 to 155 all out.

It was just about enough as Neston were bowled out for 152 with 13-year-old Cameron Buchan picking up a maiden five-wicket haul.

The fourth team won against Trafford MV to maintain their 100per cent record under 16-year-old captain Dave Cunliffe.

Batting first, 133-8 didn’t look enough but they regrouped and bowled MV out for 94 to win by 39 runs.
