SALE Cricket Club moved into top spot in the Vivio Cheshire County Cricket League Division One thanks to superb all-round display by Tyrone Lawrence.

The Search sponsored team made short work of their trip to picturesque Christleton, blasting the home side out for just 77.

Christleton chose to bat first, but were soon in trouble as stand-in captain Lawrence ran through their line up taking 8-47.

Only Kiwi Mitch Renwick (43) showed any resistance as Lawrence and Rick Halkon (2-28) bowled unchanged.

Sale made short work of the reply, knocking off the total for the loss of one wicket inside 14 overs.

Ian Dixon (26 not out) and Lawrence (46 not out) shared a 66-run partnership that saw Sale go 12 points clear at the top of the table.

It comes just a week after Sale captain Chris Canning led by example in wrapping up a convincing seven-wicket win against Didsbury.

His aggressive innings with 71 off just 68 balls, saw him share an unbeaten 136-run partnership with Dan Halkon (72).

Elsewhere Matt Millward battled it out for the best performance of the day as he produced a career-best display for the 2nd team in their winning draw at home to Congleton.

Millward made the most of another outstanding wicket at Dane Road scoring the first century of the season for Sale.

He followed up his 114 not out with 4-43 with the ball as Congleton reached 174-7 in pursuit of Sale’s 236-3 declared. Millward was supported by Rob Merga (55 not out).

On Sunday, Vic Sunderamanie's 52 and Dan Osborne's 51 not out were the among the highlights as the second XI beat Bollington by nine wickets in the T20 cup.

Elsewhere, the 3rd XI lost by four wickets to Cheadle Hulme.

Soans Praveen's wicket fell one run short of a half century as they set a target of 121 and Cheadle Hulme reached their target in 19.4 overs with Tom Riley the pick of the bowlers with 3-12.

Next weekend the 1st XI host Oxton, whilst the 2nd XI travel to the Wirral for the reverse fixture.
