TRAFFORD MV's stuttering season was epitomised in this final league game of the season which left them in a disappointing fifth place in North Lancs Division One.

Despite putting in a very good performance MV had the game stolen from their grasp losing 26-24 to Littleborough with the last play of the game which left the players dumbstruck.

Metrovicks started strongly as Lewis Kingdon's try was converted by Pat Eccles after five minutes.

After 10 minutes it looked like Boro were settling down in their opponents half but again Trafford broke Boro's and good running and support passing brought another converted try from Zac Crabb under the posts, Eccles again with the extras.

The Boro pack worked hard to get back in the game and more possession brought a growing confidence. Good three quarter running saw Goldthorpe out pace his opponent and touch down behind the posts, Walton converted.

At half time MV were in a confident 7-14 lead.

The start of second half saw Trafford awarded a penalty which they converted to put them 10points ahead.

Good running saw Boro's Walton race away for a well run try also making the conversion, narrowing the lead to three points.

In the final quarter of the Match, Boro started to show their capabilities and good running with ball led to Bairstow crossing the line for Boro's third try with Walton converting to put Boro in the lead for the first time.

Then with only a single minute of time left Trafford's fullback Crabb fielded a high kick and attacked forward and unbelievably cut through practically the whole of Boro's team to achieve a fantastic try which was converted to regain the lead for Trafford

From kick-off Boro hit back as Goldthorpe for him to repeat Boro's opening try and collect his second of the day.

Immediately the referee blew for time and Trafford were left shell-shocked, stunned by their narrow two point defeat.

MV will be hoping for some silverware when they take on Liverpool Collegiate in the Lancashire Plate final on May 2.
