LEE Sinnott gave his players 10 out of 10 for effort after they kept their Wembley dream alive with another outstanding show of resilience on the road at Kidderminster on Saturday.

Alty made it three straight away wins without a goal conceded in the 1-0 FA Trophy second round victory.

Damian Reeves fired them into a first-half lead and Stuart Coburn repeatedly thwarted Kidderminster’s quest for an equaliser in a backs- to-the-wall second-half display.

It earned them a third-round tie away to Bath City, and Alty boss Sinnott said: "I had a feeling we would come out of the hat second, given the times we’ve been drawn away!.

"There is a hunger among the players to do well on all fronts, but we have to refocus on the league before we can start thinking about the third round.

"You have to give the players 10 out of 10 for character. They stuck to their job, and Stuart pulled off some excellent saves at the right time to make sure we held on to the lead Damian gave us.

"We said beforehand the main objective was to ensure we were in the hat come Monday morning. A draw would have been creditable, but it was great to do it with a win, and I was especially pleased for the supporters.

"They turned out in numbers, and when you consider we haven’t exactly covered ourselves in glory in previous cup games, it was particularly good to give them another round to look forward to.

"We are an honest bunch, and we know our retention of the ball has gone a little askew at the moment. But that will come back, and in the meantime, we are digging in.

"I liked Damian’s awareness for the goal, and he had to be pinpoint to get his shot across the keeper from that sort of angle. It was the best piece of skill in the game, just as Shaun Densmore’s free-kick was at Eastleigh.

"I have repeatedly said to the players that the harder you work, sometimes the luckier you get, and if we had some good fortune, we earned it. They were putting their bodies in the way of the ball, and for sheer effort and commitment, it was 10 out of 10 all round."

Alty return to league action at home to Torquay on Saturday (3pm).
