TRAFFORD MV bounced back from the previous week's defeat at Garstang in resounding fashion.
The local lads were dominant throughout in a 59-5 victory over North Manchester which saw them retain fourth place in North Lancashire Division One.
Winger James Mathie opened the scoring with a display of pace to outflank the defence, and Jamie Kingdon followed soon after with the second, bursting through tackles to provide Pat Eccles with an easy conversion and give MV a 12-0 lead over the second-bottom side.
MV were superior in loose play, and quick turnover ball enabled Mathie to pick up his second try of the day to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
A quick tap penalty from number eight Danny Burke saw him saunter in under the posts, and two more conversions from Eccles pushed the score to 26-0
North Manchester battled hard but were no match for MV's attacking strengths.
Everything was going MV's way, epitomised by scrum half and captain Eccles chipping over the defence and collecting a perfect bounce without breaking stride to race home
North Manchester managed a score just after the break, which was justly deserved as they took a quick tap following a strong scrum, and their doggedness kept MV at bay for long periods in the second half.
The Eccles brothers, Pat and Chris, each added a further try.
The man-of-the-match award was given to centre Jody Gregg who was playing his final game for the club prior to moving to Australia with his wife Amy.
MV's under-16s continued their development with an impressive 34-24 win against Preston Grasshoppers.
