ALTRINCHAM reached the halfway point of the Vanarama Conference season with their second comeback win in eight days.

Kidderminster arrived at the J Davidson Stadium on the back of a good run acheived despite having to offload some of their highest paid players for financial reasons.

Alty were without injured influential wingman Nicky Clee, and suspended defender Scott Leather.

The Robins started the game well and, when Lewis could only parry a Cavanagh shot and a Crowther follow-up was blocked, they were unlucky not to take the lead.

Although the Harriers came into the game after that, their best chance fell to Reid who shot wide.

In a fairly even first half, the defences proved dominant and the interval arrived with the score goalless.

After an unexceptional opening to the second half, Kidderminster took the lead in the 50th minute.

Alty's James Lawrie lost possession with a misplaced pass in the opposition half. The ball was worked forward to Marvin Johnson who drifted in from the right and lashed a well-struck ball into the far corner.

Altrincham responded well and were level within seven minutes as Lawrie made amends for his earlier slip.

The Northern Irish international was played into the goalmouth, left of goal, by a fine ball from Shaun Densmore and he kept his composure to slot the ball low past the advancing keeper.

Manager Lee Sinnott brought on midfielders Greg Wilkinson and Sean Williams and these changes helped to increase Altrincham's attacking tempo.

They got their reward when a perfect cross from the left by Adam Griffin was glanced home by the head of leading scorer Damian Reeves, with just four minutes of normal time remaining.

Kidderminster squandered a couple of late half-chances but Altrincham deservedly secured a win which lifted them to 17th place, eight points clear of the relegation places.

Altrincham: Coburn, Densmore (c), Havern, Marshall, Griffin, Moult (Williams 69), Cavanagh, Richman, Crowther (Wilkinson 62), Lawrie (Perry 81), Reeves. Unused subs: Parton, Gillespie.
