Burnley 15 Trafford MV 35
TRAFFORD MV continued with their improving form and overcame a rugged Burnley outfit on a pitch not really inspiring to running rugby. MV were however up to the task and with the forward pack taking the game to the opposition there was enough ball to establish a good game pattern - which was emphasised by four out of five tries coming from the wide players.
Trafford looked to run the ball at every decent opportunity and wingmen Chris Eccles (2) and James Matthie ran in good scores for MV.
Powerhouse outside centre Jamie Kingdon used his strength to crash through for a further try. When wide play wasn't an option the forwards were capable of taking the ball on up front and prop Paul Davenport was rewarded when he used his deceptive speed to find a gap to sprint through and cross the line.
To put icing on the cake MV's skipper Pat Eccles had a good day with the boot and all five tries were converted. Burnley stuck th the task but MV proved the stronger and more attack minded of the sides. Burnley scored two tries, converted one and added a penalty to keep them a threat.
