Ruskin Park 10 – 32 Altrincham Kersal

ALTRINCHAM Kersal maintained their 100% start to the season with a hard fought victory on the road at Ruskin Park. The St Helens club made the early running and took the lead through a penalty but this was immediately cancelled out by an opportunist pounce by Ben Davies.

Jon Bishop then did his best impression of a Whirling Dervish as he took five men over the line, leaving a simple conversion for Singleton.

Some quick thinking by Park’s 10 saw panic break out in the AK 22, the result of which saw the fly half smash through the defence for a well worked seven pointer.

After a slow start, AK began to assert their dominance up front. Never was this more prominent than at the breakdown- where the AK back row worked tirelessly to secure ball for the backs to attack with.

Glen Walden outpaced the defence in a mirror image of his try against The Medics before some neat footwork saw James Coulson open his account for the season, sneaking in at the corner. A feat he would recreate later in the game as he bagged a brace.
