Chester County Officers CC – 1st XI – 199-5

Ashton on Mersey’s batsmen had another day to remember as they demolished Chester County Officers at the Beets.

Choosing to bat first on another excellent batting track Chester were indebted to a fine 140 from skipper Chris Wright as they posted maximum batting points. Mike Roberts shouldered the bowling burden, taking 4-82 in an unchanged 23 over spell.

In reply the visitors found Ashton’s top order at their brilliant best as Graham Thomason and James Lines took apart the Chester bowling. Lines went for 78 but Thomason carried his bat to record an unbeaten 107 off just 58 balls.

With just three games to go Ashton remain in third place in the league with all to play for in their push for promotion.
