CREWS from Trafford Rowing Club have been waving the flag for the borough in the north west and down as far as the south west this summer, scoring a string of victories.

The club's men's and women's senior squads have secured victories in both novice and intermediate categories at Northwich, Trentham and Bewdley regattas so far this summer, along with a win in the mixed category at Trentham and the Eddystone Challenge in Plymouth.

The juniors have also been out in force and at Runcorn Junior Regatta the club finished second in the Victor Ludorum to Merchant Taylors School.

Dave Goley, vice captain of the club's men's squad attributed this season's victories to pre-regatta season training. "The winter months are when most of the hard work is done in the gym and in frosty early morning outings on the Bridgewater Canal.

"This season's wins are great results for the club, and also reflect the improving quality of crews we're sending to represent us nationally."

The club is based in the Walton Park Sports Centre in Sale, and anyone interested in finding out more should email captain.traffordrc@yahoo.co.uk
