HOT shot sniper Michal Psurny has re-signed for the Manchester Phoenix for a third campaign after being the EPL leading points scorer last season.

Player coach Tony Hand has managed to retain the services of the Czech born fans favourite Psurny along with Phoenix British stalwart defenceman James Neil for the 2014/15 season.

Psurny hit a massive 99 points last season, his second with the club, netting 45 goals and 54 assists across Phoenix’s title winning campaign. He joined Manchester in 2012 from Czech side HC Olomouc and has a Czech Extraliga winners medal along with last seasons EPL title and the 2012/13 Playoff crown with Manchester.

In the past two seasons in Phoenix colours, Psurny has netted 188 points (88 goals and 100 assists) in 104 games.

Hand said: “Michal has been fantastic for Phoenix the last two seasons and it is no mean feat to top the League Points scoring list. He is a favourite with the fans and I am sure he will continue to rack the points up for us.”

Psurny said on his return to Manchester: “It is good to be back in Manchester. I like to see that Robin (Kovar) and Frankie (Bakrlik) are back too. We will be ready to defend our title.”

Meanwhile defenceman James Neil is returning for his sixth season with the Phoenix. The 24 year old Brit has iced in 263 games for Manchester whilst he has also played for Elite League side Nottingham Panthers 148 times.

Neil commented on returning for another season: “I love playing for Phoenix and it was easy to re-sign when Tony (Coach Hand) asked me. The club is a great, professional organisation and looks after the players.

“The fans are second to none in the league. Why would I want to play anywhere else?”
