ASHTON on Mersey demolished visitors Oakmere in a one-sided encounter at the Beets.
Ashton openers Pratik Kumar and Graeme Thomason got the home side off to a flying start before Alex Turner produced an innings of great quality to press home the advantage.
When Turner was out for a splendid 65 the pace was increased by Mark Weighill who struck a quickfire 50 off just 31 balls.
Oakmere skipper Sam Catling was the bowling pick with 3-36 in a mammoth total of 241.
In reply the Ashton bowlers Dan Higgins (3-9) and Isuru Perera (4-37) devasated the Oakmere top order, taking the first 3 wickets with just one run on the board.
The innings never recovered and at 46-7 the introduction of spinner Mike Roberts produced the coup de grace as he took the final three wickets in his first four balls without conceding a run.
This was a powerful performance from a vibrant Ashton team and they will be looking to continue their excellent season next week at Chester County Officers.
