THE 2014 season of Manchester's only summer 11-a-side football league, the TCAS League, has got underway.

The league table is topped by Gencia FC who demolished last season’s league champions Aviva Athletic with an emphatic 8-0 victory at Platt Lane.

Man of the Match Tom Kimber netted four times for Gencia in a game where new Gencia signings Omar Thomson, John Morgan and Matt Newell dominated the midfield with power, possession and flair.

The result is Aviva Athletic's heaviest defeat in three seasons.

In the other weekend fixture, the league’s two newest teams, Barclays Piccadilly FC and Gazprom Energy, met at BTH Altrincham.

Gazprom weathered a number of Barclays’ attacks in the first half but despite being dominated by Barclays in possession they took the lead with a neat finish from Simon Hope.

Barclays equalised however with a goal through Paul Duncalf who was rewarded with the man of match for his energy and composure in the midfield.

The match ended 1-1 and the result sees Gazprom move from the bottom of the table into sixth position.
