LEE Sinnott has set the bar high for his Altrincham players by giving them a target of four straight wins to secure an eagerly-awaited return to the Conference Premier.

Alty are assured of a top-five finish in the Skrill North after demolishing Vauxhall Motors 5-1 and now face Histon away on Saturday before heading into a two-legged play-off semi-final.

Speaking prior to an awards evening at the J.Davidson Stadium that saw defender Scott Leather sweep the board by winning all three main categories, Sinnott urged his players to keep a winning mentality throughout the season’s nerve-shredding finale.

“There are still boxes to be ticked, and the next one is winning at Histon to make sure we go one better than last season by finishing third,” said the Alty manager.

“I’ve no preference about our opponents in the semi-final, but we would like to be at home for the second leg, which we will be if we are third. It wouldn’t guarantee anything, but it would be preferable.

“So there can be no taking our foot off the pedal. It has to stay right down at Histon and the same in the play-offs. I said to the players theoretically you have four games left. Can you win them all? That is our focus. That is the target.

“It was a good crowd against Vauxhall, and I’m delighted we provided some goals for them. That’s 28 for James Walshaw now, 17 for Damian Reeves and 12 for Kyle Perry, and with such important games coming up, it’s good to see them banging the goals in.”

Leather won Supporters’ Player of the Season (Nicky Clee second, Walshaw and Luca Havern joint-third), Players’ Player and Young Player, while George Heslop was Tom Earley Clubman of the Season and Karen Rowley was Club Person of the Season.

The Players’ Award went to kitmen John Skelhorn and Luke Pickering while Goal of the Season was won by Clee (versus Colwyn Bay), ahead of Reeves (v Bradford Park Avenue) and Walshaw (v Brackley).
