Mark Cueto set to break 200 game barrier
11:52am Thursday 20th February 2014 in Sport
MARK Cueto is looking forward to achieving another milestone in his illustrious career when he runs out onto the pitch at Sixways for his 200th appearance in the Premiership as a Sale Sharks player.
He already holds the record for the number of career tries with 84, the first of which was scored on his Premiership debut, away to Bristol back in 2001.
Mark broke team mate Steve Hanley’s record of 75 tries when he crossed the line against Exeter Chiefs in February 2013 and this season he has already scored six in 13 appearances this season (three at the AJ Bell Stadium and 3 on his travels).
Mark recently signed an extended deal and will be playing for Sale Sharks next season, which will be his 14th with the club.
Mark has also played 55 times for England, scoring 20 tries and represented the British & Irish Lions on tour in New Zealand in 2005.
He is famed for touching down in the 2007 World Cup final and then the nation agonised when the Television Match Official turned down the ‘try’ just as England looked to be getting back into the game.
Mark also played in the 2011 World Cup competition in new Zealand before retiring as an International player.
Looking forward to the game at Sixways, Mark said: “ I am looking forward to running out at Sixways, it’s another milestone in my career that I have enjoyed thoroughly since my debut at Bristol all those years ago.
“I have had the pleasure of playing with and against some great players and I am still enjoying my rugby. Hopefully with signing a new deal, I will be able to build on the 84 tries I have scored in the Premiership.”
