ONCE again the wet weather won out as games across the north west were washed out with waterlogged pitches and unplayable surfaces.

Trafford MV had cup fixtures at Littleborough and Broughton Park cancelled even though they offered their own home pitches as being playable. MV's 3rd XV has now gone a month without playing due to pitch conditions.

The coming weekend will see Mossley Hill, from Merseyside, visit Trafford MV for a North Lancs Div One encounter with the 3rd XV also due to play at home.

Trafford MV now has one eye on the brighter months ahead and are looking to recruit for their cricket teams for the summer 2014 season. Pre-season nets for the women's team begin at Lancashire County Cricket Club on Sunday evening (Feb 9th) 6-7pm - women and girls from 16-years-old are invited to get in touch and prepare for the season to come.

Trafford MV's women have been successful over recent seasons with league and cup success and consistent high finishes in the Cheshire Women's League.

Young players aged 8-12 years who would like to learn the game and develop their skills are also invited to net sessions which run alongside those for the Women on Sunday evenings.

Trafford MV is particularly keen to see young players who have not been attached to clubs previously but may have enjoyed Cricket at school or in holiday play groups.

Adult nets will be announced shortly as will details of a new mid-week short overs tournament to be played at MV's MacPherson Park.
