AFTER Rob Miller’s last minute penalty secured Sale Sharks a quarter-final place in the Amlin Cup, the picture has become a lot clearer today.

Sale Sharks will entertain Northampton Saints at the AJ Bell Stadium in early April, with the added incentive that if Sale were to be successful, their reward is a home semi-final against the winners of Stade Francais or Harlequins on at the end of April.

Full quarter-final draw: Bath v Brive; Wasps v Gloucester; Stade Francais v Harlequins; Sale Sharks v Northampton.

Semi-final draw: Wasps/Gloucester v Bath/Brive; Sale Sharks/Northampton v Stade Francais/Harlequins.

Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond said: “To get home advantage in the knockout stages is a big plus.

“Me and Jim Mallinder go back a long way and we coached Sale to victory in this competition back in 2002. Just told the players before we board the plane home and we are all looking forward to it.”

Dates for the quarter-finals are expected to be announced in the next few days and Sale Sharks will be announcing ticket details and prices shortly.
