TWO up-and-coming junior tennis players from Altrincham have been included in the Lawn Tennis Association’s Aegon FutureStars programme.

Brothers Tomas, aged nine, and Peter Alam, aged eleven, have been highlighted as some of the brightest talents in the country.

A successful year on court for both brothers means that they will be part of a 424-strong group.

Leon Smith, LTA head of men’s tennis, said: “We are committed to supporting and identifying our most talented players.”

He continued: “There’s obviously a long way to go...but we hope that with the right support, these players are given the best possible chance of reaching their full potential.”

That support comes in the form of exclusive training kits and sponsored tournaments.

David Macmillan, chief marketing officer at Aegon, added: “The Aegon FutureStars programme plays an essential role in enabling young people to...make the next step in their tennis journey.”
