IF you want goals, Altrincham are the team to watch as 17 strikes in the past five games have taken them to the top of the Skrill North scoring charts and to third place in the league table.

And with Damian Reeves netting in each of the past four games, James Walshaw leading the club's goals tally and Kyle Perry chipping in with seven goals, the Robins are a very potent attacking force.

Addressing the other end of the pitch, Alty's three recent signings have all been defenders; former Premiership star Danny Higginbotham, Tom Marshall and Adam Griffin. All three started this game on Saturday, in which Alty adopted an unaccustomed 3-5-2 formation.

They got off to a dream start when Tom Marshall got his head to a corner and another team-mate's nod left Damian Reeves to arch his own header into the net in just the fifth minute.

But, rather than build on the lead, Alty allowed the Brakes to come back into the game before half time.

The game might have been settled straight after the break but Reeves fired over from 12 yards. However, eight minutes later, the striker's battling with visitors' keeper Breeden saw the ball break for Kyle Perry to head home, after his initial shot had been blocked.

Four minutes later, Leamington pulled a goal back from the penalty spot after referee Johnson had spotted a push in the box. Dodd, the visitors' most lively player, converted the spot kick. And the Brakes made it 2-2 after 73 minutes when Alty failed to deal with a free kick and Magunda arrived at the back post to score.

There was a chance for Alty to retake the lead after 79 minutes, when Reeves got free but, although he chipped the keeper, he saw the ball go wide.

James Walshaw, only brought into the game after 74 minutes, produced the winner with a stunning 25-yard shot after 86 minutes. It was his 15th goal of the season and Alty's 49th of their 22-game league campaign to date.

Before high-flying AFC Telford United visit the J Davidson Stadium on Saturday, Alty travel to Gainsborough on Tuesday evening.
