DEANS Youth remain Division One leaders despite dropping points at home to seventh placed draw specialists Old Altrinchamians 2-2. Flixton Juniors remain in second spot as they too were involved in a draw, this time away to fourth placed Broadheath Central FC in a 3-3 draw, thus ending Broadheath’s 100% start to the new season. AFC Quarry are in third after drawing 1-1 away at fifth placed Sale Amateurs. Quarry’s goal was scored by Chris Cloherty cancelling out Chris Mosley’s strike for Sale Amateurs. In sixth spot are Knutsford FC who comfortably disposed of tenth placed Northenden Victoria, goals scored by Clive Hampshire (2), Christopher Spencer, Bradley Williams and substitute Dan Jones.
Moorlands top the Division Two table after a solid 2-0 home victory over the inconsistent fifth placed APFC, Michael Farrell and Kurtis Rathbone on the score-sheet for the table-toppers. Broadheath JFC sit in second after a tight 2-1 home victory over fourth placed Wendover AFC, James Kennedy’s goal for Wendover was in vain as Broadheath triumphed after goals from Michael Nihill and Matthew Statham. Wythenshawe Amateurs complete the top three in Division Two after a brace from eighth placed West Didsbury and Chorlton’s Gary Lilley wasn’t enough as Wythenshawe rose to the challenge and won 4-3 in a high-scoring game at the Manchester Health Academy. Bottom placed Winton JFC will look to build on their first win of the season after stunning ninth placed Juno United 2-1 at Bradshaw Hall. The sides in tenth and eleventh placed served up a nine goal cracker at Chassen Road as eleventh placed Styal ran out 6-3 winners, Gareth Mecalfe scored three with Adam Houldsworth adding another two to guarantee Styal took the points.
Kartel Sports and Atlantic FC were involved in Cup action over the weekend, with Atlantic FC progressing to the next round with a comfortable 4-1 victory at Altrincham Athletic Club. In the other cup game over the weekend there was a Timperley derby with home side Unicorn Athletic disposing of their rivals the Timperley Taveners 3-1, after goals from Tom Aldred, Robert Quinn and Sam Williamson ensured they were the side to advance into the Second Round.
