Rugby League World Cup hidden balls found at IWM North and Altrincham Library

RUGBY League fans in Trafford were this week searching high and low for the chance to win tickets to the Rugby League World Cup Final at Old Trafford in November.
The council teamed up with the competition’s organisers and other partners including Salford City Reds, Altrincham Library and the IWM North to hide two specially branded balls at mystery locations across Trafford.
Using the hashtag #findourballs, fans had to follow clues given out on Facebook and Twitter to find the balls and claim their winning tickets to the RLWC2013 final, which is set to take place later this year in November.
The lucky winners of the tickets were Matt Finn from Sale, who managed to locate the hidden ball at Altrincham Library. The second ball was found by Gossamer Mohamed and Tarek Mohamed Samy, who happened to be visiting the Imperial War Museum North from Egypt.
They found the ball close to one of the museum’s special displays on ‘Sport and War’, featuring one of the greatest Rugby League players of all time, Douglas Clark. The pair were thrilled and plan to return to Trafford in November, especially for the RLWC2013 final.
Graham Boxer, Director of IWM North said: “We were delighted to work with Trafford Council as a venue in the competition. Our Fit For Action summer programme is about promoting sport and getting active, so it is a great fit. One of our most popular displays tells the story of Douglas Clark, one of the greatest ever Rugby League forwards, who was injured in military service in 1917 and still went on to become a world champion wrestler.”
Cllr Jonathan Coupe, executive councillor for safe and strong communities, said: “This competition caught people’s imagination and shows how much fans are looking forward to the Rugby League World Cup. We’re delighted to be hosting the final in Trafford and I’m sure the winners will have a great time. I’d like to thank everyone who got involved, particularly those who helped us with the competition - the IWM North, Salford City Reds and Altrincham Library.”
The RLWC2013 tournament kicks off on October 26 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, with Australia v England. Trafford will be hosting the RLWC2013 Final at Old Trafford on November 30.
Tickets are still available for the RLWC2013 tournament, with 55% of tickets priced £20 or less.
