A NEW £500,000 clubhouse and crown green bowling facility is set to become the centre of a community in Broadheath once more.
The old established Budenberg Bowling and Social Club was previously operating from a run-down building on Woodfield Road, which was was judged not fit for purpose.
The club and Bloor Homes reached agreement to build new homes along with a new clubhouse and bowling green.
The deal secures the tenure for the bowling club well into the future and provides new, modern facilities. The scheme received the green light from Trafford Council in November 2011.
Bloor Homes in-house design team in partnership with representatives from the bowling club, designed the club's new facilities to a specification agreed with Sport England.
During the redevelopment the club was relocated to the heart of the new development named Egerton Green.
The development of the 54 new homes has proved very popular and has sold out in only nine months.
On August 15, members of the Budenberg Bowling and Social Club invited Bloor Homes to officially open the new facility and celebrated the event with a bowls match.
The club boasts facilities that include a bar, entertainment area, offices, a championship standard green, covered viewing patio and car parking.
Christine Kynaston, Bloor Homes sales director, said: "Building new developments presents us with an opportunity to create attractive neighbourhoods and new homes where people enjoy living. The continued success of this club will create a lasting legacy, a heart and focal point for the benefit of the whole community."
Ian Whitehead, treasurer of the Budenberg club, said: “We are grateful to have received tremendous support from Bloor Homes.
“We value its commitment to the club, which is now in a position to invite new members to enjoy these outstanding new facilities and the relaxed friendly atmosphere."
