Altrincham and District Amateur Saturday Football League

AFC Quarry came out 1-5 winners away at Flixton Juniors in Division One, to exact revenge on the side who beat them in the League Cup semi-finals the previous weekend.

A hat-trick from Tom Carter was added to by Keith Mairs and James Pearce to bring the league leaders from a goal behind.

Broadheath Central FC kept themselves within four points of the table toppers by overcoming Wilmslow Sports 1-0 while third-placed Sale Town were awarded three points after their scheduled opponents, Atlantic FC, were unable to field a team. Elsewhere in the top flight, Sale Amateurs claimed a 5-2 victory against Egerton FC, Sale United drew 3-3 with Knutsford FC and Kartel Sports shared the spoils with Swinton FC in a 1-1 stalemate. Nicky Scott’s first-half goal had seemingly guided Kartel to a much-needed win but Andrew Traverse scored a dramatic equaliser for the visitors in what was effectively the last action of the match.

Meanwhile in Division Two, Deans Youth extended their lead at the top of the table to six points after they beat Cheadle Hulme 3-4 on their travels and second-placed Moorlands Sports drew 4-4 with Wendover AFC. Four wins from their remaining eight matches will guarantee them the league title.

Elsewhere in the second tier, Old Alts triumphed 3-7 away at Broadheath Central JFC to make it three league wins on the bounce and Northenden Victoria prevailed 1-5 on their trip to face Sale Town Reserves. In the two other games played in Division Two, West Didsbury & Chorlton and Unicorn Athletic overcame Styal FC (3-0) and Grappenhall Sports (6-2) respectively.
