AS schoolchildren from across the boroughs congregate this week in a festival of Sport for young people in Greater Manchester local sports clubs are looking to teachers and parents to encourage the participation of their children in physical activity.
The Great Manchester School Games involves pupils from many schools across Manchester in a whole range of sports at venues across the city. Following on from last years Olympic dreams it is hoped this year's games will see many more young people taking up active sport.
Trafford MV in Sale, one of the leading grassroot sports clubs in Trafford, has excellent facilities for young people to enjoy rugby union and cricket. Sunday mornings sees over 250 youngsters turn out each week in the Black and White shirts of TMV Hawks Rugby, teenage players also train on Tues-Thurs evenings at the Club on Finney Bank Road, Off Glebelands Rd M33 6LR.
Cricket is also on the agenda at Trafford MV as the weather begins to improve. Indoor nets at Old Trafford on Sunday evenings are taking place at the moment and the club has registered two youth sides in local South Manchester leagues and will be looking to attract young players of all ages to enjoy this summer sport. Boys and girls are both welcome to play cricket at Trafford MV.
Trafford MV are looking for a new generation of young people inspired by high profile sporting events to become the local sports stars of the future.
